ARISE is a joint initiative of the International Labour Organization (ILO), JTI, and Winrock International set up to help prevent and eliminate child labor in tobacco-growing communities where JTI does business. With projects in Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania and Brazil, ARISE needed a website to tell people about the program as well as communicate their efforts in the field in a timely manner.
What we did
The website was the first expression of the programs brand so it was important to reflect this in the design and overall feel of the site. But more important, it needed to tell users about the one thing that matters most to ARISE, the success stories in the field. As a starting point we explored what the organization needed to communicate and who they needed communicate to. This was achieved through several stakeholder engagement sessions. Building on this knowledge we designed and built a website centred around what ARISE does, and what they are doing – in the form of success stories, news and a blog. The website is currently available in both English and Portuguese.
What we achieved
The website has evolved since its initial launch, and is still evolving, but the primary aim is to present an engaging story rich website. It’s fresh look and simple structure highlights these successes, focussing on the people who are helping to achieve this success and the people the program helps. The site regularly has visits from stakeholders across more than 32 countries.
